Outside Time To Enjoy The Weather

Outdoor Wednesday

Light Recipe : Dolly Bars

I love my sweets the same as the next sweet lover but I know that they are not all good for me or my health. The best thing is when I find recipes like this where I can enjoy and not worrying about my health. The secret is eat within portions

1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs (about 9 cookie sheets)
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon water
1/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup butterscotch morsels
2/3 cup flaked sweetened coconut
1/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted
1 (15-ounce) can fat-free sweetened condensed milk

Preheat oven to 350°. Line the bottom and sides of a 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper; cut off excess parchment paper around top edge of pan. Place crumbs in a medium bowl. Drizzle with butter and 1 tablespoon water; toss with a fork until moist. Gently pat mixture into an even layer in pan (do not press firmly). Sprinkle chips and morsels over crumb mixture. Top evenly with coconut and pecans. Drizzle milk evenly over top. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until lightly browned and bubbly around edges. Cool completely on wire rack.

Note:
They can create a sticky mess in the pan, so it's crucial to line it with parchment paper. Because the milk needs to seep into the graham cracker crumbs, don't pack the crumbs too tightly in the bottom of the pan.

A Little Inspiration

Beef Lombardi

Ground beef has recently been given a hard way to go with all the news about "pink slime" I must say though that my mama always did say that cheaper meat was not what I wanted to serve my family. Now while she may of not been aware of the "pink slime" I believe she knew what she was talking about. Spend a bit of time find ground beef with out the unwanted stuff and serve your family a delicious meal

1 pound lean ground beef
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can chopped tomatoes
1 (10-ounce) can diced tomatoes and green chiles
2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
1 bay leaf
1 (6-ounce) package medium egg noodles
6 green onions, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
1 cup sour cream
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese
Garnish: fresh parsley sprigs

Cook ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat 5 to 6 minutes, stirring until it crumbles and is no longer pink. Drain. Stir in chopped tomatoes and next 4 ingredients; cook 5 minutes. Add tomato paste and bay leaf, and simmer 30 minutes. Cook egg noodles according to package directions; drain. Stir together cooked egg noodles, chopped green onions, and sour cream until blended.  Place noodle mixture in bottom of a lightly greased 13- x 9-inch baking dish. Top with beef mixture; sprinkle evenly with cheeses. Bake, covered with aluminum foil, at 350° for 35 minutes. Uncover casserole, and bake 5 more minutes. Garnish, if desired.

Note: Freeze casserole up to 1 month, if desired. Thaw in refrigerator overnight. Bake as directed..

Save Energy This Spring = Saving $$$

There are a few different ways that you can save some of your hard earned dollars this spring. One of the ways is to cut down on the money you spend on energy. A few ways to ensure that you save money include :

Useing more efficient light bulbs. Using light bulbs that use less energy will help not to heat the house up as well as help you save energy.

Just like in the winter setting the theromostat at the right temp. is very important to help save energy setting the right temp in the spring is important as well. Set the temp. a few degrees higher when no one is at home so that the a.c. does not work hard to cool the whole house.

Ceiling fans can be very useful for helping to keep the home at a reasonable temperture. Remember that ceiling fans are for our comfort not the room and should be turned off when not uing the room

Use your window shades to help block out the sun. This will help to protect the room from overheating.

Another great tip is to check air conditioner filters each month. Good rule of thumb is to change the filter every 3 months. Dirty filters make the ac work harder to do the same job.

Guardsman Review

My family has always cherished belongings and I have been blessed to have a collection of wonderful family pieces of wooden furniture. From tables to glass cabinets my house has been filled with wonderful pieces that carry with them many memories and stories to share. The one thing that I must in my opinion do is to share those stories and take care of the wonderful pieces of wooden furniture so that the next generation can cherish them as much as I do.

One piece that I simply love that has seen many years of use and one that holds stories from my childhood is my grandmothers game table. The game table is where you would find my grandparents and other adults playing an old card game called rook. Yes this was the card game of choice for our family and we all learned to play but to see the adults play was a feat all in itself. Some times they would not even allow us to watch as the chance of breaking their concentration may occur. But this table I graciously received and take care of it trying to keep it in nice condition so the next generations may one day have the chance of displaying it in their homes as well.

One way that I care for our treasures is by using Guardsman Trusted for over 100 years Guardsman is leading the way with expertise products and solutions to help revitalize, protect and restore furniture. This product is one that is needed to take care of my precious treasures and as I pass them down through the generations I will pass with them the promise of Guardsman.

The secret of Guardsman is rather new to me only finding out about it after taking part in a blog tour featuring Guardsman. I was sent an aerosol can of Revitalizing Wood Polish as part of the blog tour. The can defines the contents as being recommended by furniture makers and States that it enhances and preserves woods natural beauty. The spray had a pleasant lemon scent and was easy to use simply spraying onto a dusting rag and then wiping the table or other piece of wood furniture. The results I found were rather happy making their was no residue left behind and the table looked nice and I was proud to share with others. Currently there is a campaign titled Stop Cleaning and Start Caring that I would like to share with you as well.

Stop Cleaning. Start Caring Campaign
